Random name picker
Paste your class list and pick a pupil fairly. Nobody repeats until everyone has had a go.
Fair picking, every time
Cold-calling the same confident pupils, or forgetting the quiet ones, is easy to do without noticing. This picker keeps track of who has already been chosen and only repeats once everybody has had a turn. If someone is away, delete their name from the list and carry on.
How to use it in a lesson
Paste or type your class list, one name per line, then press Pick a name. Use first names or initials only. Show the screen on the board for a bit of suspense, or keep it on your own device and read the name out. Press Start again to reset the round.
Private by design
Everything runs in your browser. The names you type are not uploaded, stored on a server or shared with anyone. If you tick the box to remember your list, it is saved on this device only and you can untick it to remove it.
Does it repeat names?
Not until every name has been picked once. Then it starts a fresh round automatically.
Are my pupils' names saved anywhere?
No. The list stays in your browser. You can optionally remember it on this device, and nothing is ever sent to a server.
Can I use it on a school computer or tablet?
Yes. It works in any modern browser with nothing to install.
